Tyrodrig literally sends you flying!

Rodrigues is all mellow, all laid-back. This is what makes it unique. But if you’re looking for something extra to spice up your stay on the island, Tyrodrig and its zip lines are exactly what you need.

Don’t close your eyes. If you do, you’ll miss the spectacle unfurling 240 metres below your feet. The lagoon and its hues of blue, interrupted only by the green of the valleys reaching inland from the coast, make for a perfect background as you zip-line your way through Rodrigues’ skies.

Montagne Malgache, in the South of the island, is our playground for the day. We meet up with the Tyrodrig team, and after some basic advice, we quickly get equipped. In no time, we’re up on the first platform of the day, overlooking the valley.

And we’re off! The initial apprehension of going airborne quickly gives way to excitement as the adrenaline kicks in. Eyes wide open, we take everything in: the views, the wind and a sensation of well-being words would fail to describe.

Rodrigues has a few zip line courses. One of them is made up of four zip lines with heights ranging from 100 metres to 240 metres, ideal for young children. Another, designed for thrill-seekers,offers three zip lines of 100, 200 and 400 metres long.

That first zip line we tried was also the showpiece. At 400 metres, it is the longest in the Indian Ocean. Long enough to enjoy seeing the island from an entirely new angle.
