Coco Up: All in on the Coconut

Just when you thought you knew the multiple ways in which a coconut can be used, along comes Arnaud Dalais! Come taste his array of coco-based products. Every year it gets larger… and tastier!

The coconut is the quintessential tropical fruit. Everybody likes it. But maybe Arnaud Dalais likes it that little bit more than you do. Have you built a company around it? No? Well he has! Coco Up, which has been around for the past ten years, is well liked by Mauritians and tourists alike.

“Each coconut tree is unique, as is each fruit and each product Coco Up develops,” says Arnaud Dalais. Unique doesn’t mean limited. The range of products, already impressive, became even larger two months ago. “We now have a new coconut water product, with pineapple. We’ve found a way to keep the flavour of the pineapple. Its softness blends well with coconut water,” he adds.

As an entrepreneur, Arnaud Dalais knows he must not stand still. With his team of around ten people, he has been working hard to get new products to the Coco Up stands and supermarkets around the island.

“We have fresh coconut milk, ice cream of different flavours made from coconut milk, coconut cakes made with less sugar, coconut chutney, traditional broom sticks made from coconut leaves, bowls… All our products are chemical-free,” adds Arnaud Dalais.

Nothing but pure coconut pleasure!

 

From the Ground up

To make coconut-based products, you need coconuts. And to get coconuts, you first need coconut trees. That is why Arnaud Dalais and his team are planting them. Their objective: 50 000 in the next three years, and 100 000 in the next ten.
