Wherever there are roads, there are road trips to be made. Mozaik brings you down south to discover the unspoilt beauty of the region. Dive into the sugar cane fields, stare in awe at the cliffs and listen to beauty as the waves come crashing in.
The Riviere des Anguilles bridge is our first stop for the day. The pristine waters making their way through the lush vegetation are the first highlight of a trip which promises many.
Further south, Gris-Gris awaits. Gris is French for grey. The spectacle, though, is one to behold: spurred on by the wind, wave after wave come crashing into the cliffs. If you want to go down the sixty or so steps leading to the beach, by all means do so. Bathing, though, is an ill-advised choice.
A few kilometres further down the road, La Roche qui Pleure (The Crying Rock) is an outcrop reaching out into the sea. Over time, the elements have carved into it the vague form of a human face. To marvel at it and the surrounding views, you will have to walk. But it is well worth it!
Before we leave, we make a quick stop at the Telfair Garden. Tucked away near the bus station, it is the perfect setting for a little picnic.
Next destination: Pont Naturel (Natural Bridge), via Le Souffleur. Both are testaments to the workings of nature. To take in the whole panorama, get to higher ground. At Pont Naturel however, a true labour of love wrought into shape by the brute force of the elements, get up close and personal for some jaw-dropping pictures and unforgettable views of the wild south.

What to Bring Along
Eager to set out? We know that feeling! But before you go, make sure you’ve got the sports shoes, cap and jacket on, in case rain invites itself along. Sunscreen and anti-mosquito lotion are also advisable. That aside, make sure you know which roads you are going to take. Road trips are great fun, but you don’t want to get lost too often!
