A thriving economy, a stable political environment and attractive incentive schemes… Mauritius has everything investors and professionals are looking for to thrive. If all you know about the island is its reputation as a holiday destination, here’s a quick guide to finding a job and working here.
Search before you go: It is not easy to find a job in Mauritius before you get here. Which is why many people first come over to get a better feel of demand on the job market and recruitment criteria. But what you can do from afar is to register on online platforms like expat.com, where you can connect with expatriates living here.
Once on the ground: If you’re already in Mauritius and are still wondering how to go about finding a job, there are a number of agencies who can guide you through the process. Among the best known are myjob.mu, Alentaris, Adecco and Talenteum.
Getting a work permit: Any foreign national looking to work in Mauritius as a full-time salaried employee must apply for a work permit. So once you’ve secured a job, you can do so online on the government platform, at Work Permit Unit. Do note, however, that the permit automatically expires once you resign from the job the permit was issued for.
Quality Living
Mauritius is rightly known for its tropical atmosphere, where one can work and enjoy the pleasures of life at the same time.
Tax Benefits
All foreign nationals investing in Mauritius benefit from the following advantages: an income tax of only 15 %, no capital gains tax, inheritance tax, housing tax, property tax, tax on dividends or generalized social contribution.
A Gateway to the World
Mauritius enjoys a strategic location in the Indian Ocean, between Africa, Asia and Australia, where interesting professional opportunities are many, and from where all destinations can be reached.
